Childhood :
Rajinikanth was born on December 12, 1950 in Bangalore in a Maharashtrian family. His real name is Shivajirao Gaikwad, his father’s name is Ramojirao Gaikwad and his mother’s name is Jijabai. His native village is Mavadi- Kadepathar in Purandar taluka. 80-90 years ago, his family migrated to Bangalore and settled there. His father was a constable in the Karnataka Police. Rajinikanth was obsessed with acting since childhood. Keeping his passion for acting, he did many small jobs. . He also worked as a porter as well as lifting sacks of rice. After passing 12th, he also worked as a bus conductor for some time. He also worked as a conductor in Bangalore Transport Service.

When Rajinikanth was working as a conductor, a fellow bus driver inspired him to try his hand at acting. Raj Bahadur was the name of that bus driver and it was because of him that Rajinikanth’s journey in acting started. He joined the Madras Film Institute to try his luck and became a superstar in cinema. He started his film career with the Tamil film Apoompur Ragangal. So far he has acted in more than 150 films.
